About UsBlaylock Engineering Group is a consulting structural engineering firm founded in March 1992. Firm Principals are Albert J. Blaylock, SE, President; Thomas Spencer, SE, Vice President and Treasurer; and Matthew Martinez, SE, Vice President and Secretary. All three principals were previously with the structural engineering firm of Blaylock-Willis and Associates, a long-standing structural engineering firm in the San Diego area, which was originally founded as A. At various times, satellite offices have been operated in Guam; Honolulu, Hawaii; and Newport, Wales, U.K. Offices are located at Mission Brewery Plaza, San Diego, California. Present staff includes registered structural engineers, with supporting civil engineers and designers. We have in-house CAD capability using AutoCAD Release 2006. We have installed, and currently subscribe to the U.S. Government Construction Criteria Base (CCB) system and regularly use the SPECSINTACT system of specifications. This allows access to the latest in government and many third party design guides, and the ability to provide specifications using any common word processing format. Blaylock Engineering Group performs structural engineering design of marine waterfront structures, buildings and bridges. The work often requires structural engineering investigations, detailed reports, engineering design, engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, cost estimates, photographs, non-destructive testing and repair recommendations. Waterfront structural engineering, underwater structural engineering investigations and architectural projects involving waterfront construction are a particular specialty of the firm. Marine Waterfront Project Experience includes design and/or above and below water structural engineering investigation of the following structures:
Architectural Project experience includes:
Blaylock Engineering Group takes pride in its policy of using registered civil and structural engineers in underwater structural engineering investigations. These engineer/divers have encountered and successfully worked in a wide degree of underwater environments including turbid, cold water and extreme current conditions, and are experienced in accessing narrow, confined areas. In-house underwater photography is a firm specialty. In-house above water and below water video cameras are used to document findings. Testing and investigation techniques used in above and below water structural investigations include:
